The School Day

Arrangements for students arriving at the start of the day

We operate a ‘free flow’ system where the students can come into the school building from8:05am. A member of staff will be on the gate from 8:15am to greet students and walk them into the building should they require this support.
Our school day runs from 8:30am until 2:30pm. Your child will be marked late if they are not in school by 8:30am. Learning starts at 8:30am!
If your child arrives between 8:30am–9:00am your child will receive a late mark; arriving after 9:00am, your child misses the whole morning’s learning mark (although they will be registered as safely on site).

Break time: 10:15am–10:30am
Healthy snacks are available at break-time. Students are welcome to bring a healthy snack in for breaktime.

Lunch time (Family dining): KS3 12:45pm–1:15pm KS4 1:00pm – 1:30pm
Family dining is one of the most special features of life at SENDSCOPE Independent School. All our students and staff share lunch together every day. We recreate a ‘family’ atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to engage in conversation and take responsibility for different aspects of the service, for example laying the table or tidying the table at the end of the meal. Each lunch service is guided by a member of staff who leads a daily ‘reflection’ and weekly ‘gratitudes’ where students express thanks for what others have done for them during the week. All students have access to a hot lunch each day and have the option of pasta, pizza, sandwiches and salads. Students can bring a packed lunch if they wish.
Community Matters–all our students are able to sit together, regardless of their dietary preferences or religious requirements.

Parents pay for lunches at the end of each month, this will be invoiced by the school. Free school meals are given to eligible students.

If you would like more information about any specific meals, please contact us so that we can connect you directly with our caterers. If your child has any allergies or special diets, please let us know.
